Words alone are not enough to convince people to take a difficult step.
The story of a missionary who worked with a tribe in Brazil shows it well. When an infectious disease was killing people in the village, their only chance was to get the sick to a hospital on the other side of the river.
But people were afraid of the river - they believed evil spirits lived in it. The missionary explained, put his hand in the water, encouraged them. Nothing worked.
In the end he walked into the water and swam to the other bank. He got out and raised his hand in victory. People started cheering and, one by one, crossed after him.
It is the same in a coaching staff and in an academy. I can talk about standards for a long time, but the team will still watch what I do - whether I come prepared myself and whether I do what I ask of others.
🎯 Words can promise. Actions convince.
